The goal of the Work Services program at Southwest Opportunities Center (SOC) is to develop appropriate work skills and behaviors through paid work. Workers have the opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of jobs including:
- Bulk mailing
- Metal shop (cutting, drilling, and sanding)
- Document destruction
- Industrial sorting
- Quality Control Inspection
The work floor is supervised by staff so that workers can experience and adapt to a realistic employment atmosphere.
Janitorial Training Program:
Individuals interested in learning an occupational skill have the opportunity to train and participate in our facility-based Janitorial Training Program. Individuals will learn the basic skills required to work in the janitorial field such as garbage collection, restroom cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, dry/wet mopping, etc.
Grounds maintenance duties include cutting the grass with a push or riding mower and shoveling snow.
