Community Employment Program

SOC Community Employment Program

The Community Employment Program assists individuals in obtaining competitive employment by matching interests with abilities. This goal is accomplished through a team effort between the individual and the placement specialist. These services are provided through Job Placement and the Supported Employment Program. The State of Wisconsin's Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) refers individuals to SOC for the following services:

10-Day Vocational Assessment is a process in which an individual participates in paid work opportunities in a variety of jobs to determine their vocational strengths, limitations, interests, and physical stamina. The outcome is to determine the individual's employability and to establish a vocation plan based upon the results. A comprehensive report is compiled and reviewed with the individual and their DVR counselor.

Work Adjustment Training is a time-limited program which allows individuals to work on employment skills in preparation for competitive employment. This is accomplished by establishing individualized goals and participating in paid work to understand the meaning, value, and demands of work and to learn or re-establish skills, attitudes, personal characteristics, and work behaviors.

Job Placement assists individuals in locating and securing community employment within their interests, abilities, and/or expertise. Individuals receive support with building a resume', job applications, job interviewing training, work experience, on-the-job training, and limited-term support.

Supported Employment Programming assists individuals in securing and maintaining community employment in their local community based on interests and abilities. This process includes vocational assessment, job development, and specialized long-term job coaching. Extensive coaching ensures job success and retention for the employee and employer.
